PROGRAM SUMMARY

The concept of “Category Management” was originated by retailers seeking to focus processes and people around the performance of categories of products sharing core similarities. A different form of Category Management has been developed by procurement groups as an alternative approach to Strategic Sourcing.

The Procurement Category Management workshop is for procurement groups which are involved in ‘full lifecycle’ product development and spend management. These are often groups which have employed “Strategic Sourcing” approaches for two or more iterations, and are seeking to find more holistic ways of improving spend category performance.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND?

This workshop trains participants in core aspects of:

  • Customer Management
  • Product/Service Development
  • Strategic Sourcing
  • Demand Management
  • Margin Management
  • Supplier Relationship Management

PROGRAM OUTCOME:

Participants in this master class learn approaches which directly pertain to the definition, sourcing, and management of defined groupings of spend categories which share leveraging and optimization opportunities. Class members also learn ways to expand Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) modeling techniques to encompass lifecycle costing revenue modeling to determine the true TCO for particular procurement groupings of expenditures.

Strategic Procurement Solutions’ instructors bring advanced strategies, tactics, concepts, techniques and examples to the program which they have learned in corporate sourcing leadership roles. The sessions include a mixture of instruction, group case studies, interactive dialog, and…multiple “real world” negotiation role playing exercises. Participants receive a 150+ page color training manual.
